How can I read putts without a putter?
I work as a caddie at an up-scale golf course. I myself am a long time golfer, and when I need to read putts, I use my putter shaft to judge the break. However, when I'm caddying, I cant use that method. I don't see most of the subtle breaks in the greens, and usually avoid reading putts because I don't trust my judgment. Are there any tricks like the putter shaft that can help me read putts? If not, what else can I do to get better?
go to your putting green and read a putt by bending your knees in a kind of squat formation. then look at the hills of the green. then hit it. see how off you were and then try a different put and see again, until you build up confidence of the amount of break in your greens.
